Patrick Walsh is decended from European settlers who have lived and farmed in the Western District of Victoria for more than 150 years.
This submission includes an extract of Mr Walsh’s family memoir Milking our Memories: 150 years of the Walshs of Walshs Road South Purrumbete. In the extract, Mr Walsh shows that settlers like the Walshs a) “were not the first to settle or farm the area, b) that we benefited from the displacement and extermination of the First Peoples of the area and c) were largely ignorant of this history as little or nothing was passed down through home, school or church until now.”
