Submission – South-West Coast Scientific Group, Clean Ocean Foundation

The South-West Coast Scientific Group of the Clean Ocean Foundation comprises three retired academics, a marine biologist, a medical academic and a physicist, with a combined 50 years’ experience in marine sciences and 35 years in evaluation of research for policy development.

This submission is the group’s response to the National Offshore Petroleum Safety and Environmental Management Authority’s consultation process for the Otway Basin 3D Multiclient Marine Seismic Survey Environment Plan to conduct seismic tests for gas off the coast of south-west Victoria. The submission notes the injustice of Budj Bim UNESCO World Heritage site not being listed in the Environment Plan nor any mention of the threat to eel farming.
