Summary
VACRO is an independent, non-profit organisation created in 1872. It supports people in contact with the criminal justice system and their families to create new beginnings and stronger communities.
This submission makes recommendations grounded in Vacro’s experience supporting people, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, to access housing and avoid homelessness post-release. It also shares a perspective from Warrigunya, a Gippsland-based Aboriginal Incorporated not-for-profit organisation working to establish a supported housing project for Aboriginal men leaving prison.
