Meet the Truth Receivers

Who are Yoorrook's truth receivers?

Yoorrook's Truth Receivers assisted First Peoples community members in sharing their truths with the Commission.

This included helping them to write or record their truth-telling submissions. It also included sitting down and talking over a cup of tea, or on the phone, to discuss how they would like to participate in Yoorrook’s truth-telling processes and whether they might need social and emotional wellbeing support or legal assistance to do so.

Truth Receivers also shared information about what Yoorrook was doing, and how First Peoples could participate with community groups. They helped coordinate and organise engagement opportunities across the state, such as yarning circles and community roundtables.

All Yoorrook’s Truth Receivers are trusted community members who are embedded within the community and respected across various networks.
