Summary

“A Fight for Survival: A Political Cabaret” by Northlands Collective Mob is a theatre production that chronicles the three-year battle to keep Northland Secondary College open. In 1992, the Kennett Government attempted to close the school.

One year before its closure by the Kennett Government, the Royal Commission into Aboriginal Deaths in Custody named Northlands Secondary College as a positive model for advancing the aspirations of Aboriginal people. The production, which ran from May 7 to 9, 2021, features a diverse cast representing many nations, including individuals closely connected to the school and the case. In 1995, the Equal Opportunity Board and Supreme Court ordered the school’s reopening.
