Walk for Truth – the journey so far

The Walk for Truth has gotten off to an incredible start and we thank the hundreds of people who have joined to walk with us in the first few days of Week 1.

The Walk for Truth has gotten off to an incredible start and we thank the hundreds of people who have joined to walk with us in the first few days of Week 1.

Commissioner Travis Lovett has been overwhelmed by support from people right across the community, mob and allies alike, each and every day, rain and shine.

People young and old have travelled from near and far, even internationally, to be part of the Walk for Truth and its call for everyone to join together to walk for truth, justice, healing and hope.

Traditional Owners have shared powerful truths of their Country, Community and Culture, the impacts of colonisation, and the strength, resistance and achievements of the world’s oldest living culture.

The openness of everyone to hear these truths has showed people right across the community wish to understand the past, and how it connects with the present, so we can all walk forward together to a better future for First Peoples and all Victorians.

From Portland to Convincing Grounds on Day 1, an incredible morning at Tae Rak Aquaculture Centre and a walk to Tyrendarra Indigenous Protected Area on Day 2, followed by Day 3 and 4 from Tyrendarra to Yambuk and Port Fairy, where crowds of school children were among those welcoming Commissioner Lovett, it has been an incredible few days.
