Thelma Beeton

Thelma Coral Beeton, from Swan Hill with family roots in Tasmania’s Cape Barren Island, is Palawa and Bunurong. As an artist in the Torch program, she practices at Black Pearl Art 10 Studio and recently secured a studio through the City of Melbourne. After years of hardship on Melbourne’s streets and time in jail, she turned to art for healing. Now, she paints daily, exhibits her work, and advocates for Aboriginal women’s needs in prison.
